Home Builders Association of Lake County was chartered in 1973. Its service area includes Lake and Sumter counties. Members of the local Home Builders are also members of the Florida Home Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders.
The mission of the Home Builders Association of Lake-Sumter is to use its unified strength and resources to ensure the highest possible standards of quality, integrity and professionalism within the building industry while monitoring government to ensure the preservation of the American Dream of owning a home.
The Home Builders Association of Lake-Sumter is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Collectively, this board of directors sets goals and policy for the organization. Each board member holds a fiduciary duty to make decisions based on what is in the best interest of the Association. Elections are held annually in which the full membership of the HBA of Lake-Sumter has the opportunity to vote for the leadership best suited to serve on the board of directors.
The by-laws of the organization establish the rules and procedures of the organization as well as the qualifications for membership.
The staff of the Home Builders Association runs the day-to-day operations and management of the Association. The staff acts on behalf of the membership to carry out the policies set by the Board of Directors in the areas of advocacy, events and activities, and member services. The staff consists of an Executive Director hired by the board of directors and an administrative assistant.
